Windy, Cold, Greetings From Chicago!

We spent Sunday night in Chicago. After many hours of planning and drafting our itinerary for the last long weekend, and approximately 16 road construction sites, 4 toll roads, and one long detour we finally made it to Chicago! We skipped the first two stops at the Sears Tower and Navy Pier due to a lengthy trip and an overdue lunch. But, more importantly we stopped at the Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company where we ate the most delicious lunch. We had Mediterranean Flat Bread for a starter.

We then had the specialty there which is a pizza pot pie. YUMMY! It was the most delicious thing I've tasted with the words "pot pie" attached to it. It is made and cooked in this bowl with mozzarella on the bottom and some special original pizza sauce with button mushrooms in the middle and topped with crust over the rim of the bowl. When they bring it out to you the server turns the bowl over and dumps it out to serve it to you. Upon leaving we got a picture perfect shot of Brooks and Drew in front of the restaurant.
I had planned for us to visit this great children's museum, but by the time we finished our lunch and got there it was closing. So we headed to the hotel in Highland Park where Daddy and Brooks swam until dinner.

For dinner we ate at the Rosebud in Highland Park, which came highly recommended by Drew's manager who lives in Chicago. Although still slightly full from lunch, I managed to stuff down my half of a pasta and broccoli with a little help from Brooks.

Don't worry, though, because apparently while parking the car, Drew had already decided he would rather go to the Walker Bros. Pancake House for dinner. Where he seemed to have no trouble ordering the worlds largest apple pancake, which was neither pan nor cake if you can see the picture, as well as a plate of eggs and hashbrowns. The apple pancake was a combination between a funnel cake, a pancake, and a fried apple pie. We did, somehow, get Brooks to pose with the pancake and "cheese" like a supermodel. He really does look like a middle-aged man in the picture it is hilarious. After second dinner we went back to the hotel. You can tell we seriously prioritize food on our trips.
